Our Guide To How Do Thermostatic Radiator Valves Work

What Is A Radiator Valve?

Radiator control valves look like cylindrical dials and are generally numbered from 0 to 6. You can manually twist the to change the temperature of the radiator. If they are set up correctly, your radiator valves allow you to have one boiler providing heat everywhere in the house, but with differing levels of heat in each different room.

What is a Thermostatic Radiator Valve?

A thermostatic radiator valves (or TRV) is an easy and inexpensive way to separately control the temperature of each room in your home. The main benefit with a thermostatic radiator valve is that it automatically gives you control of temperature in a room, so it helps you to heat your property more efficiently, saving you money on heating bills.

A TRV is made up of two parts; the valve head (the bit with the dial) and the body underneath, which is affixed to pipe that links the boiler to the radiator.

Is it worth having thermostatic radiator valves?

It definitely is. You can set the temperature separately in individual rooms in your home, making it more energy efficient and saving money.
