You can make sure that an engineer or business is registered with Gas Safe by checking online on their website.  If they are not registered then contact Gas Safe with full details so that they can investigate.

How To Report A Registered Engineer

Even if they are registered, if you still have concerns, you can raise them with the scheme. If they are not Gas Safe registered, then they are working illegally, and you can report them.

In order to report gas work, Gas Safe needs the following details:

• Name, address and contact details
• Name, address and Gas Safe registration number of the business
• The engineer’s name and the licence number on their ID card.

Gas Safe will also require further information about the gas work:

• Did you inform the engineer about the complaint?
• Was the job completed?
• Has any remedial work been done?
• Has there been any additional gas work on the premises?
• Do you have further information to support your concerns?

Gas Safe will then review all the details you have provided and carry out a full investigation. The investigation may include a site visit to your home to inspect the gas work that has been carried out. After the inspection visit, all parties entitled to one will receive a copy of the inspector’s report.
